Jonathan Zittrain is the George Bemis Professor of International Law at Harvard Law School. He is also a Professor of Public Policy, Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government, a professor of computer science at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, director of the Harvard Law School Library, and co-founder and director of Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

Professor Jonathan Zittrain has worked on projects related to the ethics and governance of artificial intelligence; agentic AI protocols and risk mitigations; battles for control of digital property; privacy frameworks; the roles of intermediaries within Internet architecture; and the useful and unobtrusive deployment of technology in education.
In the upcoming year, he will be diving further into projects related to machine learning and artificial intelligence and a CBAI fellow will support this work.
The fellow will work directly with Professor Zittrain and BKC's Senior Research Coordinator, Brigitte Fink, on a variety of projects across the summer. Applicants should have an interest in machine learning and/or artificial intelligence, public policy, and digital and internet issues.
