Dr. Josh Dettman is a researcher and deep tech founder focused on operationalizing AI biosecurity. At MIT Lincoln Laboratory, he co-led a 50-person interdisciplinary group across AI, biology, chemistry, and engineering, securing $25M in federally funded R&D and delivering five technology transitions to government and industry. He holds a PhD in chemistry and completed postdoctoral research at the FBI Laboratory. His current work centers on building faster, scalable approaches to uncover and close biological risks in AI systems beyond traditional expert-driven testing.

Agentic biology tool chains for biosecurity: reuse of biological tools and development of novel ones for AI biosecurity characterizations.

AI for bioattribution: utilizing AI tools to identify signatures, assess potential pathogen origin types and specific origins, aid decsion makers in attribution, and generate deterrence.
Strong foundation in implementing machine learning and/or biological methods with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines.

Proficiency in programming.
